O texto é uma reflexão que parte da constatação de que o século XXI vem carregado de mudanças sociais e estruturais de diversas ordens, o que obriga a educação a repensar seus rumos, assim como a questionar e propor novas diretrizes e ações para a formação de professores. É preciso que se reveja também o papel das instituições educativas.

ABSTRACT

Educational demands of the 21st century: continuing teacher education. The 21st century has been loaded with deep social and structural changes, making education rethink its objectives, question and propose new paths as to teacher education. Thus, a reflection over the present situation and the role of educational institution should be carried out.
