Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a problemática que envolve a disposição de resíduos sólidos na cidade de Araguatins/TO, bem como gerar um banco de dados que possa subsidiar a administração pública na tomada de decisões de gerenciamento. De acordo com os resultados obtidos, o município de Araguatins/TO apresenta limitações técnicas em seu sistema de gestão de resíduos, que vai desde a coleta até a disposição final. Portanto, concluí-se que a procura de alternativas para proteger o meio ambiente e reduzir os risco à saúde humana precisa se tornar constante, bem como a implantação de novas tecnologias e práticas que agreguem valores econômicos ao lixo.

This work had as objective to analyze the problem that involves the disposition of solid waste in Araguatins city, state of Tocantins, Brazil, as well as to generate a database that can subsidize the public administration in the decisions of implantation of management solutions. In agreement with the obtained results the municipal district presents flaws (technical limitations) in your waste management of system, which is going since from the collect until final disposition. Therefore it was brought to a conclusion that the search of alternatives for to protect the environment and to reduce the risks the human health they need is constant, as well the implantation of new technologies and practices that aggregate economical values to the garbage.
