A população tem tomado consciência do papel do exercício em sua vida e para que esta prática se torne mais segura os profissionais recorrem ao teste de esforço o qual é um instrumento de investigação clínica essencial, que facilita o entendimento das respostas fisiológicas e patológicas ao exercício físico. Este trabalho estruturou-se com a intenção de levantar na literatura pesquisas sobre o teste de esforço principalmente o que está sendo publicado nesta área nos últimos anos. Utilizou-se como metodologia, a pesquisa bibliográfica, a partir de livros e, sobretudo em sites de busca em pesquisa na internet onde utilizamos as palavras chaves: “teste de esforço” e “ergometria” nos anos de 2007 e 2008. Com base na literatura pesquisada este levantamento percebe-se que existem mais estudos em teste de esforço na área clínica do que na área do treinamento. The population has become aware of the role of exercise in your life and that this practice becomes more secure the professionals use to test effort which is an essential tool for clinical research, which facilitates the understanding of physiological and pathological responses to physical exercise. This work is structured with the intention to raise the research literature on the testing effort mainly what is being published in this area in recent years. It was used as a methodology, the research literature, from books and, especially in search engines to search the Internet which use the keywords "test of strength" and "ergometry" in the years 2007 and 2008. Based on this literature survey it is perceived that there are more studies in test effort in the clinical area than in the area of training. Key words: Stress testing; Ergometry and Exercise.
